On the Contemporary Translated Memoire Literature in the Slovak Reception Environment

Abstract:
This paper discusses the issue of the contemporary holocaust literature, its translation and reception in Slovak cultural space. The holocaust nowadays is a widely discussed topic in society. The reason might be the current political situation in Europe. Many modern Slovak and foreign writers feel a strong need to emphasise the horrors of the holocaust by writing and publishing literary works. Many of them have recently become bestsellers, which makes the topic still interesting for readers throughout the world. This paper analyses a brand-new genre in holocaust literature, describes its features and comments on the current situation in the Slovak cultural space, including some original and translated parts of selected literary works.
