Abstract:

The study deals with the attitude of the well-known Slovak writer and journalist Ladislav Mňačko towards the state of Israel. The author describes in detail three journeys of this prominent journalist to Israel. The first was in 1948 when Mňačko witnessed the declaration of the State of Israel. The second in 1961, when he arrived in Israel for the trial of Adolf Eichmann, and the third in 1967, when he went there to protest the break in Czechoslovak diplomatic relations with Israel. The study is the result of long-term archival research and knowledge of the author who, several years ago, elaborated and published a biography of Ladislav Mňačko. While researching historical documents, the author worked with the oral history method and managed to find the last memorials of the events that are the subject of his study.
