It is a historical region in Eastern Europe, which is currently divided between Romania and Ukraine. Its historical capital Chernivtsi is a city in southwestern Ukraine, situated on the upper course of the river Prut in the northern part of Bukovina. Ukrainians, Romanians, Poles, Ruthenians, Jews, Roma from Bukovina wrote poetry.
